England at Easter

Oh how I love England. I love the people, the food, the beer, the weather (the weather? yep, all that rain makes it so green!).

We visited our dear friend Dave at Easter and it was wonderful.

We visited Burford because they have a wonderful needlework shop there. Well, the shop was everything I thought it would be but the town was an amazing surprise!

This is where we parked our car! Just a "normal" street in Burford. Look at those daffodils! Those old trees! That ancient bench. The stone houses - I want to LIVE here!

How ENGLISH!

The English seem to be serious about baskets. But honestly, can you think of any place in the USA where the display would be so beautiful and outside?

Spring in boxes!

It was misty. That's why it looks so gray.
But why are they laughing so hard?
Check out the street sign above them and consider British humor.....

This is taken on the bridge in front of Burghley House. If you've seen the new movie of Pride and Prejudice with Judi Dench, it was used as her home in the movie. We didn't get to go inside - too late in the day - but it's on our list for next time!

Potsdam in the Winter

Dave is here from England and we went to Potsdam yesterday. Steve and I hadn't yet been to the Russian quarter so we decided to visit it with Dave. It was a sunny cold day and the snow on the ground made everything look ever more Russian.

We had lunch at the small restaurant there - Dave and I had borscht and vodka and Steve had some kind of delicious dumpling things and beer. It was wonderful. We'll take you there when you come to visit next time.

On the way back to the car we passed this snowman someone had built on the park bench. With his arm out, he just begged us to have our picture taken with him!

Switzerland with Giant Barking Spiders...

These two really are nuts!

Wine for me and beer for Steve...a thoughtful host!

Not only does he make good wine, he plays Euphonium - not bad...

We bought LOTS of wine from him! And now we have a good excuse to go to England to deliver it!

Czech Republic with Pam and Weldon

Drinking beer and playing dominos is a great!
Wonderful, wonderful two days in the Czech Republic! We stayed in Pilsen and drank lots of good beer!

What a lovely holiday!

Stein am Rhein

This town, Stein amd Rhein, is just over the border into Switzerland when you drive around Lake Constance. We went up to a castle at the top of the town and I took the photo at the bottom. The one at the top shows only one of many, many buildings in the center of town that are still decorated with the murals that originated in the Middle Ages.
